Abstract
In the approach of counseling, there are various cultures and applications that need to be
applied and are dedicated to specific populations and organizations that cater to the needs of
different populations and cultures. In this paper, the culture to be discussed when it comes to
counseling approach would be the Asian American culture. The Asian American has faced
challenges regarding career issues which can be led to mental health counseling. This includes
the following career-related stereotypes, pressured by family to pursue specific careers, and racerelated challenges in career advancement. The career challenges must be treated and managed
based on their cultural approach when it comes to counseling, awareness, and religion and
spiritual application. Knowing that the career mental health view of counseling brings substantial
attention to the importance of individuals’ self-care and wellness.

Cultural Awareness
Discussing the historical background of counseling and career mental health counseling
and the societal influence on the development of how the individual was affected by the career
issues they have been facing. This includes the employment background in which Asian America
implement their cultural approach at work that may affect the individual leading them to mental
issues. This in order to develop new strategies and new research to continue the growth of the
profession based on their own culture, indicating the Asian American culture and understanding
and addressing the employment issues, how acculturation affect the health problems, and
medical problems experienced by the Asian American community.
Counseling Approach
Indicating the plan action to be executed in order to treat the mental issues due to career
issues understands biases that other medical professionals may have and gives the best methods
to create the treatment partnership with Asian American individuals. The approach in counseling
the mental problems would be critical since it involves emotional due to either failure at work,
pressured by family, or races.
Religious and Spiritual Application
The counseling professionals will first consider the spiritual beliefs of an individual based
on their culture. In the culture of Asian Americans, they first identify the previous employment
of an individual, the certifications, and any language barriers that may affect the career of the
participants.
